Kortus Jacek

He born in 1988 in Poznan, Poland. Studies at the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan under Prof. Waldemar Andrzejewski.

 


Prizewinner of many nationwide piano competitions. Won 1st prize at the Nationwide Ludwik Stefanski Competition in Plock, Poland (2002), 2nd prize at the 1st Polish Nationwide Wladyslaw Kedra Piano Competition in Lódz, Poland (2002) and 1st prize and Grand Prix at the 9th International Chopin Competition in Antonin, Poland (2005). Finalist of the International S. Seiler Piano Competition in Kitzingen, Germany (2003) and a distinguished finalist at the 15th International F. Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland (2005). Won a special prize at the 6th International 'Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam' Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz, Poland (2004).
Gave concerts throughout Poland and abroad, in Russia, Germany, France, Romania, Italy, Mexico, Marocco, the USA, China, Brazil and Chile.
Holder of Jolanta and Aleksander Kwasniewski's scholarship "Help for Young Talents" and was granted twice (in 2002 and 2005) a scholarship of the Minister of Culture.
In 2009 awarded with "Young Art Medal", which is granted to young artists for outstanding successes; and with "Hipolit Cegielski Medal for Young Positivist" for successes in organic work. Last year, appeared his first solo CD with works of F. Chopin and F. Liszt, recorded for the label Polskie Nagrania "MUZA".
