Majzner Rafal
Rafal Majzner - tenor. In 2003 he graduated from vocal studies at the Vocal and Acting Department of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice under the direction of prof. Eugeniusz Sasiadek. He defended his Doctor thesis in the field of musical arts at the Stanisław Moniuszki Academy of Music in Gdańsk in 2012. He acheved the habilitation in 2017 at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan. He took part in master vocal courses with among others: prof. Christian Elssner, prof. Ryszard Karczykowski and Kaludi Kaludov.
He is a two-time scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (1998, 2003). He has been awarded many awards and distinctions in Poland and abroad, among others first prize in the Franciszka Platówna Vocal Competition in Wrocław (1998), second prize in the Slavic Music Competition in Katowice (2001), the Chopin Society prize for the best performance of Fryderyk Chopin at the Song Art Competition in Warsaw (2001), 3rd prize and special Ryszard Karczykowski Prize at the National Vocal Competition in Duszniki-Zdrój (2001), and the third prize on the XXXVII Antonin Dvorak International Vocal Competition in Karlovy Vary (2002).
He has performed in almost all of Europe (including France, Austria, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Hungary) and in the United States, taking part in numerous music festivals, for example: Vratislavia Cantans, Festival de Wiltz in Luxembourg, Schlossfestsiele in Regensburg, the Maifestspiele International Festival in Wiesbaden, the Contemporary Opera Festival and the Summer Opera Festival in Wrocław, the G G. Gorczycki International Festival, the Festival of Polish Music in Krakow.
A longtime soloist of the Wrocław Opera in which he performed in over 500 spectacles. His achievements include the following opera roles: Mariner - Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell, Leński - Eugeniusz Onegin by P. Czajkowski, Tamin and Monostatos - The Magic Flute by W.A. Mozart, Basillia - The Marriage of Figaro by W.A. Mozart and many more. He has performed on the stage with many outstanding artists, among all: Aleksandra Kurzak, Mariusz Kwiecień and Małgorzata Walewska.
As a soloist, he also appeared in the oratorio repertoire, including Passion Matthew and Magnificat by J.S. Bach, Coronation Mass in C major and Requiem by W. A. Mozart, Messiah and Passion by St. Jan G. F. Haendel and 9th Beethoven Symphony.
As a soloist, he participated in recordings such as G. G. Gorczycki: Completorium (CD, 2002), W. A. Mozart: Litaniae Laretanae, J. S. Bach: Magnificat (CD 2004), St. Moniuszko: Halka (DVD 2005), K.
