Poliykov Oleksandr
The Ukrainian Oleksandr Poliykov pianist played his first notes on the piano when he was three and he was eight he was already a band on stage. As a boy he studied at the Lysenko in Kiev Special Music School. With several scholarships in his pocket, he began his studies in 2005 at the National Music PI Tatiana Roschina Tchaikovsky in Kiev. In 2007 he also began studying at the Boston Conservatory with Michael Lewin, himself winner in the first Liszt Competition.
Oleksandr already won prizes in numerous competitions worldwide. He won the Third Prize at the International Piano Competition Vladimir Horowitz in Kiev, the first prize in the Steinway Society Competition in Boston, the Second Prize at the Liszt Competition in Weimar and the Third Prize winner 9th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition. As a member of the Lumiere Piano Trio won the Third Prize at the International New England Chamber Music Competition. Poliykov performs regularly around the world. He has given recitals in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Italy and the United States. He played with orchestras such as the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and the Kiev Philharmonic Orchestra. Recently he played both piano concertos by Liszt with the Newton Symphony Orchestra under James Orent. Besides his piano studies Oleksandr make arrangements for piano of orchestral and chamber music and orchestral conducting studies.
As a Third Prize at the Liszt Competition Oleksandr was especially admired for the beauty of his sound.
