The Course is, first of all, for those artists who want to take part in international and other music competitions. It is not obligatory, though. Applicants can submit any soloist repertoire or for piano duets.

 

Qualification to the course will be based on artistic biography of the candidate, assessment of their participation in previous editions of the course and the order of applications.

Classes will take place at the Music and Literature Club www.klubmil.pl on 10 Kosciuszki Square (pl. Kosciuszki 10) and at the National Forum of Music - Philharmonic Concert Hall (19 Pilsudski St.). 
Classes will be simultaneously translated into Polish and English.

Accommodation is provided at the Savoy Hotel (**standard) www.savoy.wroc.pl at pl. T. Kościuszki 19, which is 100 m far from the Music and Literature Club, 600 m  from the Philharmonic Concert Hall and about 800 m from the central railway station. Accommodation for accompanying persons can be booked only if requested before 31st July 2017.

Full-board at the Savoy Hotel, lunch at the Restaurant "Galicja” (ul. Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego 66 – opposite the Music Theatre CAPITOL) about 150 m from theHotel Savoy.

 

Course fee for active participation is 750 EUR(or its equivalent in exchangable currency) for soloist, 650 EUR for member of piano duets, and for passive participation - 450 EUR. The fee includes active or passive participation in the course, accommodation (in double room) for the nights between 13/14 and 24/25 August, full-board (3 meals per day, starting with supper on 13th August and finishing with breakfast on 25th August, and practicing opportunities.

An active participation includes four lessons with the chosen professor or two lessons with each of the professors and rehearsals for the course concerts (if the candidate is selected). For active and passive participants there are also theoretical lectures (interpretations of Chopin's Mazurkas, teaching piano playing "á vista"- "without preparation", on assessing piano condition, on the acoustics of concert halls, sound perception and recording techniques). The charge for participants who do not ask for hotel accommodation will be reduced by 100 EUR and the charge for those who do not ask for board will be reduced by 100 EUR.

Concerts. Five concerts of participants will be held during the course:

14th August - opening concert at the Music and Literature Club in Wroclaw

19th August - concert in the NFM-Philharmonic Concert Hall in Wroclaw

20th August - concert in the F. Chopin Manor House in Duszniki Zdrój

22nd August - concert in Brzeg (Silesian Piast Dynasty Castle in Brzeg - one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in Poland)

24th August - short concert at the Music and Literature Club in Wroclaw

Professor will select performers for these concerts from all the participants.

At all concerts programmes, photos of Professors and Participants will be published.

 

Diplomas. During an informal meeting after the last concert, all the participants will receive diplomas of participation. It will take place on 24th August at the Music and Literature Club in Wroclaw.

 

Applications for the course are expected to be sent only by email on the  application form in doc available here (only as “doc” file – no “pdf” or any other format accepted), with a photo (a portrait photo of the applicant`s face as a separate attachement) and short biographic note, not later by 20th June 2017 to the  tifl@poczta.fm

The registration fee will be refunded only if there is no possibility to admit an applicant. The remaining part of the fee will have to be paid as specified in the letter confirming acceptance of the applicant to the course.  

The written affirmative acknowledgment of participation at the course will be sent by email to all accepted applicants not later than 1st July 2017.

Visa. Due to changes in the international regulations, all foreign applicants are asked to check at their local authorities or at a Polish Embassy whether the visas are neccessary for them to come to Poland.

 

Wroclaw, the capital of Lower Silesia - one of the largest regions in Poland - is an important cultural, science and industrial centre. The town situated in the south-western part of Poland has over 1000 year old history The seventeenth-century poet Nicolaus Henelius called Wroc³aw the "Flower of Europe” and now the distinguished British historian Norman Davies made of this the title for his wonderfully readable history of the city. Nowadays, the town has about 640 thousand permanent inhabitants and covers the area of nearly 300 km2. Wroc³aw is one of the most beautiful and oldest cities in Poland. As a city of 12 islands and 112 bridges, it is known as the 'Polish Venice'. After the first settlements appeared in the 7th century on what would later be known as Cathedral Island (Ostrów Tumski). The town hall in Wroc³aw is one of the most magnificent Gothic buildings of Middle Europe. Classic and modern architecture is blended into an abundance of greens. Wroclaw is the greenest city of Poland. There are 32 universities and colleges with about 146 thousand students (among other, the Wroclaw University and the K. Lipinski Academy of Music), National Forum of Music, 28 theatres (Opera, Operetta, etc.), here operates over 50 orchestras, choirs and chamber ensembles. Wroclaw became European Capital of Culture in 2016 (source: www.wroclaw.pl).

Wroclaw has a direct train connections with many European cities, and it also has plane connections via  Barcelona, Bologna, Bristol, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Dormund, Düsseldorf, East Midlands, Frankfurt, Gdansk, Glasgow, London, Liverpool, Oslo, Paris, Rome, Shannon, Munich, Venice, Warsaw.
