4th International Piano Competition - 2008

 

4th International F. Liszt Piano Competition in Wroclaw
will be held 16 - 28 September 2008


Age limit: not younger than 16 on the date the Competition starts
(born not later than 16 September 1992), no upper age limit for the competitors.
The application form must be sent by registered letter to arrive not later than 1 July 2008.

The competition was held under the auspices of

The competition was organised in close cooperation with the "Witold Lutoslawski" Philharmonic in Wroclaw (www.filharmonia.wroclaw.pl ),
"Karol Lipinski" Music Academy in Wroclaw (www.amuz.wroc.pl )
and National Culture Centre in Warsaw ( www.nck.pl).

The Competition was held in the Philharmonic Concert Hall in Wroclaw according to the following schedule:
16 September at 19.00 - opening concert - Stanislav Soloviev - piano, Orchestra "Harmonologia" under Jan Tomasz Adamus. Programme: Program: R. Schumann - Koncert fortepianowy a-moll, Op. 54, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy - Symfonia nr 4 A-dur "Wloska", J. Haydn - Sonata D-dur Hob.XVI24, F. Liszt - Harmonies du soir, Sonet de Petrarka N.104, Rigoletto.Paraphrase de concert.
17-21 September - 1st stage auditions
22-24 September from 18.00 to about 21.00 - 2nd stage auditions (semi-finals)
25 September - finalists' rehearsals with orchestra
26, 27 September at 19.00 final auditions (in the mornings - rehearsals with the Symphony Orchestra of W. Lutoslawski Philharmonic under Adam Klocek
28 September at 19.00 concert of the laureates the handing of diplomas to laureates finalists, and semi-finalists

Application overflow for the Competition.
55 candidates from 22 countries applied for the Competition, performed 40 pianists aged 16-41 from 15 countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Belarus, China, Finland, France, Hungary, Japan, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan).

Current affairs:
Eri Mantani’s recitals 
Eri Mantani, the second prize winner performed a piano recital in the Wroclaw Philharmonic (21 May 2009), in the Parlour of Four Muses in Oborniki Slaskie (22 May) and in the Silesian Piast Dynasty Castle in Brzeg (23 May) within TiFL's "Liszt Evenings".

Piotr Banasik performsed on 24th April 2009 in the Lower Silesian Philharmonic in Jelenia Góra.
Piotr Banasik will play P. Tchaikovsky's 1st Piano Concerto B flat minor with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Lower Silesian Philharmonic under Jerzy Swoboda. The concert will be held on 24th April 2009 in Jelenia Góra.
It is an artistic prize funded by the Lower Silesian Philharmonic for the best Polish competitor of the 4th International F. Liszt Competition in Wroclaw.
Piotr Banasik`s recitals
Piotr Banasik, as best Polish competitor performed a recital on 29th January in the Lódz City History Museum as part of celebration of 122nd anniversary of Arthur Rubinstein's birth. The recital was an artistic prize funded by the "Arthur Rubinstein" International Music Foundation in Lódz.
On 20th February 2009, Piotr Banasik performed in Nowy Dom Sztuki at the palace complex in Radziejowice. The "Jerzy Waldorff" Award for best Polish competitor, in the form of this recital, was funded by Artists Association in Radziejowice - National Culture Institution.

Krisztina Taraszova - 4th prize winner performed recitals on 22 Oct 2008 in Katowice within 18th International Festival of Young Laureates of Music Competition organised by IPiUM SILESIA as well as on 24 Oct in Oborniki Slaskie and 25 Oct in Brzeg within TiFL's "Liszt Evenings".

The repertoire of the 2nd stage has been supplemented on 29th October 2007 with Episode de la vie d`un artiste. Grande Symphonie fantastique de Berioz. Partition de Piano. S.470. The piece increases the list of works by Chopin, Schumann, Brahms and Beethoven-Liszt, which constitute alternatives for F. Liszt's Sonata H minor.
