Lee Kum-Sing - currently Head of the Piano Department at the Vancouver Academy of Music and a Professor of Piano at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

He enjoys an international reputation as a performer and a teacher and is well sought after for master classes in Asia, Europe and North America. Many of his students are now actively concretizing and recording and have been frequent prize winners in numerous major national and international competitions.

Professor Lee's training has embraced a cross-section of traditions including the French, German and Italian schools and his teachers included Hans Richter-Haaser, Gerhard Puchelt, Magda Tagliaferro, and Orazio Frugoni. For over three decades, Professor Lee has won acclaim as a pianist from audiences and critics in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia as a soloist as well as in duos and in chamber musie. Amongst his criticalIy acclaimed reviews, he has been credited for bringing back the "Grand Manner" of the piano art, praised as a "keyboard poet", and interpreting Bartok with "truly Hungarian diction and temperament".

He has been featured with British, Australian and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as well as Asian and European radio and television radio recordings. For many years, Professor Lee has been conducting master classes in international summer schools in Holland, Poland, and Victoria, Canada and has been a regular visiting professor in musie eolleges and eonservatories in Japan and China. In addition to his numerous teaching engagements, he eontinues to serve as a jury member in international piano eompetitions, most recently at the XIII International Chopin Competition in Warsaw and at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition in Salt Lake City.
