Marut Tomasz

Tomasz Marut was born on 18 th August 1996 in Wrocław. From an early age, he has shown interest in music. At the age of 7, he began his studies at the Primary School of Music and he continued it at the Secondary School of Music. During those 12 years of his school education, he perfected his piano skills first at Ms Alicja Błachno-Kisiel‘s class and later at Prof. Paweł Zawadzki’s class.

 

His interests have always been directed towards piano, which resulted in many successes in this field, even while still being a student of the Primary and the Secondary School of Music.

 

The pianist’s most important achievements in this period of artistic education include:

● The 1st  prize at the 6th Johann Hiller German-Polish Piano Competition , Görlitz (2007);

● The 1st  prize at the 8th Juliusz Zarębski International Music Competition , Warsaw (2008);

● The 1st  prize at the 4th International Piano Competition in Augustów , Poland (2014).

● The 2nd prize at the Polish National Audition of Piano Students (CEA) , Cracow (2014)

● The 2nd prize at the Polish National Audition of Piano Duets (CEA) , Warsaw (2015)

 

He decided to continue his further education at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, where he is currently studying piano, under prof. Paweł Zawadzki’s guidance.

 

In this year graduated with honors from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, after studies under Professor Paweł Zawadzki. This period of studying has been abounding in significant artistic successes.

 

During this time, Tomasz Marut made himself known to wider audiences and international jurors of piano and chamber competitions as a musician with a mature artistic image and as a person with broad horizons of cognition, who demonstrates the need for continuous development. His solo and chamber performances, as well as those accompanied by the orchestra, are received with great enthusiasm both by specialists, critics and concert audiences.

 

The artist was placed under the artistic supervision of the Fryderyk Chopin National Institute as part of the Young Talents programme. This young artist from Wrocław can boast being the laureate of the following competitions during his studies at the Academy of Music:

The 1st prize at the 4 th Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition for Instrumental and Vocal Duets (Wroclaw, 2017)

● The 3rd prize at the Concours International de Piano de Ville de Gagny  (Paris, 2017)

●The 2nd prize at the 11 th Arthur Rubinstein in memoriam International Competition for Young Pianists (Bydgoszcz, 2017)

● Finalist of 4th Young Piano Stars International Piano Competition, (Germany, 2019)

● The 4th prize at the 50 th National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition (Warsaw, 2020)

 

Tomasz Marut, in recognition of his successes, was awarded the following scholarships: the Minister of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship (2014, 2019), the Rector of the Academy of Music in Wrocław Scholarship (2017, 2018, 2019), The Piotr Kler’s Foundation Scholarship (2019) the President of Wrocław Scholarship in the field of creativity and artistic education for young, talented students from Wrocław (awarded six times in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2017).

 

On the occasion of the International Music Day in 2017 in the Polish National Radio 2, Tomasz Marut recorded Robert Schumann’s Toccata in C major Op. 7, a work belonging to the group of the most demanding in terms of performance in the piano literature.
