Since then he has performed as soloist with such orchestras as: Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestra di Santa Cecilia, the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Czech Philharmonic in Prague. In 2006 he was invited to become a member of the Zehetmair Quartet with whom he has appeared at, among others, the Berlin Philharmonic, Tonnhale in Zurich, Musikhaus in Vienna, Wigmore Hall in London and Suntory Hall in Tokyo and with whom he has recorded a CD of Bartok’s and Hindemith’s Quartets (ECM) which was awarded the Diapason d’Or de l’Annee in 2007. In Poland he received the Polityka Magazine Passport award (2003) and Orfeusz award of Warsaw Autumn Contemporary Music Festival (2007). Since 2004 he works as an assistant at Warsaw’s Academy of Music. Jakub Jakowicz has recorded seven CDs, the most recent of which contains Ludwig van Beethoven’s Kreutzer and Spring Sonatas with Bartosz Bednarczyk on the piano. (Subito Records). Artist plays on a violin of Italian provenance, a gift from late Prof. Tadeusz Wronski – one of the founders of the Polish violin school.ez prof. Tadeusza Wrońskiego.
